Is It A Dream or Just An Idea?
Is It A Dream From God or Just A Good Idea
When God gives you a dream, your mind will generate thoughts, scenarios, strategies and images that weren't necessarily present in you consciously. This divine inspiration can catch you off guard, revealing layers of hope and potential that you may not have realised existed within you.
Not Every Good Idea is a God Idea
Sometimes, an idea can be the seed of a dream. What starts as a simple "what if" can grow into a powerful vision that God can use to establish His kingdom on earth. The key here is to pay attention to the thoughts that reoccur or spark a feeling within you. Don't dismiss them as mere ideas, but see them as God’s way of communicating to you his plans for the world.
The Source— Who is it coming from: God or yourself?
So many of us have visions of where we want to go, but not all of us possess the tools to steward those visions adequately. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” This verse encourages us to align our intentions with God’s purpose, ensuring that our endeavours reflect His will.
While not every idea that arises within us comes from God, those that do must be tested. The Lord instructs us in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 to “Test all things; hold fast what is good.” Before moving forward, it is crucial to discern the source of our ideas.
For instance, if you receive the inspiration to build a business, the first step is to make sure whether that thought originates from God, the influence of others, or even the enemy. This discernment becomes even more imperative when the proposed venture challenges the teachings of Scripture. In Romans 12:2, we are reminded, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Taking the time to pray, seek counsel, and immerse yourself in the Word of God will help clarify your path. As you evaluate your vision, lean on Proverbs 2:6, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” With His guidance, you can refine your vision, ensuring that it aligns with His purposes and lays a strong foundation for your ministry in the marketplace.
Remember that with every calling comes responsibility. Ephesians 4:1 urges us, “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.” Embrace your vision with the awareness that you are stewarding not just an idea but a divine purpose embedded within you.
Do You See Dreams More as Ideas or Something Else Entirely?
Dreams can often feel like a divine whisper, guiding us toward our purpose and calling. They serve as reflections of our innermost desires and aspirations, woven with the threads of our God-given potential. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, "" This scripture reinforces the idea that our dreams are not just fleeting thoughts; they are seeds planted within us, meant to blossom when we align them with God’s will. As we discern these dreams, we must recognise their value as tools for ministry, whether in our homes, communities, or online platforms, inviting us to step boldly into the work we are called to do.
What are those whispers telling you? Take a moment today to reflect on the ideas that keep resurfacing. Could one of them be a dream waiting to be brought to life?
